MY PORTFOLIO

Jean-Felix Girard
Hello! I am currently in my third year of a bachelor's degree in video game design. I love learning new things in the field of programming as well as taking on new challenges. I am also someone who really likes working in a team and helping my teammates. I look forward to working for you!
Persevering
I am a persevering person, who does not give up despite the pitfalls. I always do my best to complete my project.
Perfectionist
I am someone who likes to do things the right way by taking into account the smallest details.
Open minded
I'm still an apprentice and I still have a lot of concepts to refine. This is why I am open to criticism and recommendations from my peers, teachers and superiors. I know how to recognize my mistakes and learn from them.

My passions
Video games
Video games have always fascinated me, especially those created by Ubisoft. Indeed, I grew up playing almost all of their games and always dreamed of one day working for such a prestigious company. I also always wanted to learn how to program games, which is why I decided to direct my studies towards this field.
The stories
I have also always loved creating and listening to stories. Whether it's the narration of a film, a book, a video game or a person. Stories have always piqued my interest and stimulated my wild imagination. I really enjoy writing stories of all kinds, because it allows me to let my creative mind run wild and express myself as I want.
My skills
During my studies I developed several skills with various tools, here are the ones with which I am most familiar.

Unity (C#)
Unity is the first engine I used. I also had some lessons about it and I did 3 gamejams at UQAC in total with this tool.

UnrealEngine (C++)
Unreal engine is the engine I feel most comfortable with. I had a few lessons with this tool but still no gamejam. It is also with unreal that I worked on my biggest projects and on which I learned the most.

Perforce, github and gitlab
I know full well that these tools are very important in computing and especially in the field of video games. I have used these collaboration tools several times for my various projects. After using all three, I can say that Perforce is my favorite.

Future prospects
After completing my bachelor's degree in video game design in the winter of 2023, I plan to do a master's degree in the same field to perfect and deepen my programming skills. I also plan to work at the same time than mastery.
Once my studies are finished, I want to find a full-time job (ideally in Chicoutimi) as a video game programmer.
